A Brush with Art – Tickets Going Fast

By: Giordan Zin for Local2 • Apr 09, 2013

Tickets for The Ontario Finnish Resthome Association’s (OFRA) inaugural event, A Brush with Art are going fast. This evening of fine dining and artistic appreciation will take place on Saturday, April 20th, 2013 in the Pavilion at Algoma’s Water Tower Inn & Suites. Proceeds from A Brush with Art support OFRA’s Uusi Koti – A New Home: Campaign for Seniors’ Independent Living. The Uusi Koti Campaign is a $4 million capital campaign to assist with the $16 million estimated cost of constructing a new, seniors independent living building in Sault Ste. Marie. “If we hope to meet the growing need for secure and affordable living accommodations for our seniors in the coming years, steps need to be taken now.” says Uusi Koti Campaign Director, Kim LeBlanc-Turpin. “This is the motivating factor and the fundamental principle behind our capital campaign”.

A Brush with Art is the must attend event of the year, bringing together the pleasure of fine dining with the inspiration of original works of art and the fun of a live auction. During cocktail hour guests will have the opportunity to purchase unique, handcrafted items from the Artisan Emporium. They will then delight in a magnificent five-course meal with the ambience of classical guitar. Following, will be a fun and entertaining live auction conducted by the Sault’s own Vernon Bailey featuring over 40 items ranging from sculptures, to original oil paintings and everything in between.

“The support from local artists has been truly amazing. We continue to receive donations on a daily basis and are absolutely astonished by the level of support. We are happy to announce that Porter Airlines has generously donated 2 roundtrip tickets anywhere they fly for the live auction portion of the evening,” says Kim Cyr, Event Coordinator.

Tickets while limited, are available until April 12th for the fundraising gala. Tickets for A Brush With Art are $100 per person and can be purchased over the phone by calling 705-945-9987, Ext. 256, 257 or 258 or in person from the Campaign Office at 721 North Street. A charitable receipt will be provided for a portion of the ticket price.
